Gripper for engine blocks
Challenge
When palletizing to put cylinder blocks into storage for internal plant transportation, both the component and the intermediate layer needed to be gripped. The inaccuracies when placing the trolley needed to be offset by the gripper.
Solution
The gripper was equipped with rugged XYZ compensation. The XY compensation makes up for positioning inaccuracies in the plane. Z compensation is used as collision protection when loading the pallets. The intermediate layers were gripped using vacuum suction units that can be actively positioned.
